Practical exercises to ensure that the basis of the chapter has been understood
The assignment is mandatory for a passing grade in the course.
You will create an app for quickly sending an SMS message by calling out to the standard Android SMS app. The app will contain three predefined messages and three predefined recipients, each represented by a button. The user chooses a message and then the user to which the message will be sent. Immediately after choosing the recipient, the standard Android SMS app is started with the message and recipient preselected in the app. You need to remember the chosen message so you know what it was, when the recipient button is clicked.
Perform this optional assignment to get one (1) extra credit.
You will add an Activity and a few buttons to the previous app. The new Activity will be used for choosing a location that will be added to the outgoing "Meet me at " message. You will also use a few different Intents.
When the user presses this button, the app shall open the web browser with a URL to Google Translate for translating the message to Spanish. The beginning of such an URL looks like this: http://translate.google.com/m/translate?sl=en&tl=es&q= So, for instance, to translate "horse" to Spanish, you would open the following URL: http://translate.google.com/m/translate?sl=en&tl=es&q=horse
